General Registration opens 9 AM, Feb. 3.

Cultivating young hearts and minds.

Often unnoticed in the church’s winding hallways, is the Preschool @ FPC classroom; quiet on Sunday mornings, but brimming with energy, laughs, and smiles during the week. There are two separate preschool classes: one for 3’s (Tues/Thurs) and one for 4’s (Mon, Wed, Fri).  Students are challenged and grow academically in a play-based environment while storing up God’s word and love in their hearts.

Our Learning Philosophy

Our approach is hands-on, exploratory learning through play in a variety of engaging centers throughout our classroom. (art, dramatic play, sensory, motor, building and writing).

While playing in centers, children….

  • Learn how to make choices independently

  • Discover new and exciting information about God’s world

  • Enlarge their vocabulary and communication skills

  • Be exposed to varied literature

  • Develop both their gross motor and fine motor skills

  • Engage in dramatic play and imaginative play with their peers

  • Create something new, whether through painting, drawing, sculpting or other options

  • Learn to be responsive to their peers and resolve conflicts

FAQs

When does registration open?

Registration is online and opens at 9 AM on Saturday, February 3, for the next school year. Classes fill up quickly so plan to register at 9 AM that morning. When classes become full you will be put on a waitlist. If a class is full, you can add your child to the waitlist by emailing Martha Schartner, the Preschool Director.

What is the school year calendar?

Preschool begins the week of Labor Day and ends the week of Memorial Day. We typically follow holidays, days off, and snow/weather closures from the Beaver Area School District school calendar.

How many students are in a class?

There are 14 students in the 3’s Class (Tues/Thurs) and 18 students in the 4’s Class (Mon/Wed/Fri). There is a headteacher and assistant teacher for each class.

Is there orientation at the beginning of the year?

Before the school year begins, there is a parent’s meeting and orientation to hear more about the upcoming year. We’ve found that this orientation goes best when it’s just adults so they can give their undivided attention to the info! We also host Student Visits to the classroom leading up to the first day of school. You’ll sign up for a 30 minute time with your child to come (typically one other family attends at the same time!) and get a tour of the preschool space, do a quick art project, and make sure your child is all ready and excited for their first day at school.

Do you have to attend the church to register for the preschool?

No! We welcome students from families of all different backgrounds. In fact, typically, most of our preschoolers are from outside our church community. We love serving our community by providing a holistic, play-based, Christian preschool right in the heart of Beaver.
