Director of Contemporary Worship & Worship Technology
Position Objective:
To provide values-driven leadership to the contemporary music and worship technology ministries of First Presbyterian Church (FPC), a 200-year-old, 800-member congregation within the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Position Description:
The position of Director of Contemporary Worship and Worship Technology is a full-time position tasked with overseeing and leading both the contemporary music at our contemporary Fellowship Hall Worship Service as well as all worship- and church-related presentation technologies throughout the building. This position will require the successful applicant to serve not only as Musical and Technology Director, but as an under-shepherd to the volunteers who serve in these ministries.

Preferred: 3-5 years of experience both worship leading and implementing/working with church technology (overlapping experience is acceptable), and a relevant bachelor’s degree.
Requirements:
Worship Leading
Guitar and/or keyboard skills along with leadership and voice skills to lead worship.
Relational skills and an enthusiastic presence for leading people in worship.
Vocal and instrumental instruction abilities.
Organizational and administrative skills, and able to learn and utilize tools such as Planning Center as a ministry tool.
Worship Technology
Proficiency on the Mac platform.
Knowledge in the use of technology in worship and in the use of sound, lighting, and video as well as presentation software such as ProPresenter.
Experience with digital sound boards and in creating excellent sound, as well as ability to run a sound board.
Ability to provide vision, encouragement and support in order to maintain a high level of excellence in all aspects of presentation and to create a distraction-free environment for FPC congregants.
Responsibilities:
Worship Leading
Seek to maintain an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ through the ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, confession, and fellowship.
Cultivate relational and leadership skills necessary to recruit and train a multi-generational, voluntary contemporary worship team.
Exhibit a team oriented approach to planning worship services in consultation with the Director of Traditional Worship and Senior Pastor, with prayer, conceptual forethought, theological accuracy, and musical appropriateness.
Intentionally integrate all the musical and technical aspects of the service to advance the biblical theme for each service.
Oversee song and media preparation and presentation, sound, and lighting enhancements, and coordinate all instrumentalists and vocalists.
Direct the rehearsal(s) needed to facilitate music in the contemporary worship services.
Work with the Director of Music Ministries on combined worship services such as Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, and others.
Provide pastoral care for the worship team.
Introduce our worship teams to worship training provided by other ministries, books, and conferences.
Set annual goals in conjunction with the Worship and Music Committee and Director of Traditional Worship, for the worship ministry, that are in line with church vision, and then evaluate how those goals were attained or modified during the year.
Worship Area Audio/Tech
Oversee instruments and music-related technology (microphones, speakers, in-ear monitors, etc., as well as the stage space).
Train and oversee volunteers running the sound board.
Graphic Presentation Systems for Worship
Coordinate the collection of songs and media files for Sunday worship, and determine the processes and best practices for all parties involved.
Be willing to learn and utilize ProPresenter and Planning Center software as our comprehensive presentation strategy.
Create or oversee the creation of ProPresenter shows for both worship spaces.
Work with the Weekend Worship Technology Director to provide technological oversight based on a broad understanding of all components of presentation systems for worship and other needs throughout the church building.
Troubleshoot weekly tech-related issues as needed (in conjunction with the Director of Technology).
Make recommendations for tech purchases in conjunction with the Technology Committee, the Weekend Worship Technology Director and Director of Technology.
Maintain and repair worship presentation technology throughout the building as needed (mics, speakers, projects, hardware, sound boards, etc.).
Provide minor video and audio editing of worship services for online archives.
Worship Tech Crew
Recruit, train and schedule weekly tech teams, including projection, sound, video and streaming.
Church-wide Presentation Technology
Provide technology services for weddings, funerals, and other approved events (some may occur outside of normal business hours).
Maintain related technology throughout the building (Classroom AV, Youth spaces, etc.).
Work in collaboration with the FPC Technology Committee and ministry staff to make visionary, church-wide technology decisions.
Relationships
Work under the oversight of the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff and the Session (FPC ruling body), and alongside the Ministry Staff, engaging in regular staff meetings and retreats.
Work alongside the Technology Committee, the Weekend Worship Technology Director and the Director of Technology for technology issues.
Work alongside the Worship and Music Committee and Director of Traditional Worship for worship issues.
