About Us

First Presbyterian Church of Beaver has the unique distinction of being in existence for more than 200 years, yet we are in an extended period of renewal and vitality. Because we have been around so long we unashamedly embrace certain traditions, yet our halls are full of laughter, youth and energy. We have a wonderful, gifted and united staff.

Our senior pastor has served First Presbyterian for ten years. We have a history of strong tenure in our youth, music and associate pastor positions. Our support staff are highly invested in their work, and they love the church.

We represent a strong blend of all age groups. Our older adults are active and involved in community and church. We have strong families and singles of all ages. We are blessed with wonderful children’s and youth ministries.

  • Our music ministry is excellent!
  • We have mission partnerships locally, regionally and all over the world, and mission teams follow those partnerships.
  • We have invested more than $4 million in our facilities since 1990.
  • Our original sanctuary and Commons area, built in the 1890’s, have been upgraded with lights, new heating and cooling systems, and padded pews.
  • The four story Education Wing has been thoroughly upgraded with flooring, paint and furniture, and the old fellowship hall in the Lower Level has been transformed into nine new children’s classrooms.
  • Our brand new Access Wing provides wide hallways, new bathrooms and a five stop elevator, and our new Fellowship Hall is used for recreation, banquets, concerts, informal gatherings and worship.

As we enter our third century of ministry, we are aware that times are changing. Beaver, once a bastion of stability, is facing the same opportunities and challenges as the rest of our country. Our children and young people face temptations not known to their parents and grandparents. Many young people who leave Beaver for college eventually find employment outside of the area. Our families are experiencing limited time together and other stresses. Such times call for a sensitive, caring response from the family of faith.

We believe that God has given us the ability to respond to these and other challenges. Our ministries described in the following pages reflect the response of God's people at First Presbyterian Church. And we are not finished, either. To the ministries listed in this guide we will add others as God calls and gifts us.
